Twenty years on from being possessed with the idea of starting his own country, Sajan RaJ Kurup realized his dream in 2007 with the inception of Creativeland Asia – the land for people in the business of creativity.
Having a fierce entrepreneurial spirit, Raj started dabbling with work from the age of 13. A newspaper boy in his summer holidays, an animal caretaker, a spoken English tutor, a pizza maker, a sales guy, a stage actor, a masseur and a bartender. Finally, after completing his Honours Degree in Mathematical Economics and proudly dropping out of Business School, he settled for a life in creativity. In his advertising career of nearly 17 years, Sajan RaJ Kurup has the experience of having worked in six different countries in Asia and Europe, and across companies like Mudra (DDB), Leo Burnett, Orchard, Lowe and Grey, before founding Creativeland.
• Rated among the top 5 creative people in India and amongst the hottest Creative people in Asia. • The Pantene “You Can Shine” television commercial is one of RaJ’s remarkable creations and has even been ranked No. 1 in the “25 Most Epic Ads” by Adweek 2011. • Invited to present a case study on The Hippo campaign on Twitter for Inventory Tracking created by Creativeland, in institutions and seminars including TWTRCON for “The most innovative use of social media”.
