When I received the invitation to speak in Goa, I was excited as I had never been to India before, but I thought I was a last minute stand-in as it was so close to the event. But I was soon to learn that this is the way things seem to happen in India – with enthusiasm, speed and belief. The event was a wonderful blend of chaos and order – which makes these things far more interesting.
I enjoyed all the talks I attended but the most stimulating event was the chatting to the conference attendees – who were unbelievably enthusiastic to talk design – by the end I was totally drained and could discuss graphic design no more! It was a privilege to be asked to speak at India’s first graphic design conference. I had a wonderful time, thank you!

We were embraced by a very attentive audience. This was probably the most responsive public I have personally experienced, not just idealizing the heroes from the west, but offering their critical response to the presentation and discussing their work in the context of Indian culture.
All the impressions of India came together, the new opportunities, the fast growing economy, the reality of the slums, the kindness of people, the eagerness to improve, and the resignation to fate. India is a country where all these contrasts co-exist and if you see only one part it simply means that you ignored the others. In that moment one can only have doubts about the relevance of design, but instead my first thoughts were that the Kyoorius Design conference is giving an impulse, setting an example for the changes that are happening.

Thank you Rajesh for initiating an event I’ve waited for so many years to attend in my own country! It was a spectacular effort and was pure inspiration to everyone interested in good design. To see so many eager students was the biggest reward for me – they are the future. I’m sure this event will gather huge proportions in the coming years as the design industry seems poised for a really momentuous growth. Thank you again for making this happen and all the very best for the years to follow.

A wonderful first effort by Kyoorius Exchange, it was really fantastic and has had a tremendous buy in from the design community. Commendable and hats off the Kyoorius team.
