The workshops aims at understanding of characteristics of living beings (animals, birds...) and interpret them into form development of letterforms.
Methodology:
Identifying an animal/bird and describing its characteristics to the group. Zero-in to a max of three attributes.
Draw a letterform with hands (literally) using black ink on paper that inherits these attributes. Ink has to be applied directly with hand (no tools like brushes, pens... allowed).
Duration:
2 hours with a 15 minutes break (tea served in the workshop itself) followed by 30 minutes of critique.
Material requirements:
- 5 imperial sheets per candidate
- 2 litres of black fountain pen ink
- 1 old newspaper per candidate
- 1 volunteer (if possible)
- B&W A4 good quality prints of a -- horse, dog (1 dobermann, 1mongrel, 1 greyhound), monkey, spider, cockroach, dragonfly, eagle, bull, elephant, cobra, shark, goldfish, crow, vulture, tiger, deer
