Javier Mariscal (Valencia, 1950) is, first and foremost, an image creator who develops his work using all kinds of supports and disciplines. Furniture design, painting, sculpture, illustrations, interior design, graphic design, landscaping, gardening and so on are all the object of his professional, vital activity.

He has recently done the interior design and graphics for the H&M store in Barcelona, the collection for the Uno Design contract, the 11th floor of Hotel Puerta América Madrid for the Hotels Silken group, the graphic image of the 32nd edition of the America’s Cup, a new brand image for Camper for Kids, the Bombay Sapphire Design exhibition on 20th century design objects, the sculptural pergola for Río Hortega Hospital in Valladolid and the Visual Identity for the British post – production company Framestore.

Among other projects, he is currently working on a retrospective exhibition at the Design Museum of London which will take place in the spring. It will include the full length cartoon Chico y Rita with Fernando Trueba, three books about his artistic and design work and on pieces of furniture for Vondom, Uno Design and Magis.

He has collaborated with companies such as Memphis, Akaba, Bidasoa, Moroso, Nani Marquina, Vorwerk, Alessi, Magis, Sangetsu, Cosmic, Amat3 and Phaidon. Mariscal expresses himself using a personal language that is complex in its intention and simple in its statements, innocent yet provocative. He uses the language to innovate, risk and communicate. He enjoys provoking the viewers of his work and visually engaging them.
