The film is produced for Kyoorius DesignYatra 2011, directed by renowned web designer and documentary director Hillman Curtis.

 


 

Massimo Vignelli

Massimo Vignelli, born in Milan, studied architecture in Milan and Venice.

He came to the United States from 1957 to 1960 on fellowships from Towle Silversmiths in Massachusetts and the Institute of Design, Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. In 1960, with Lella Vignelli, he established the Vignelli Office of Design and Architecture in Milan.In 1965, Massimo Vignelli became co-founder and design director of Unimark International Corporation. With Lella Vignelli, he established the offices of Vignelli Associates in 1971, and Vignelli Designs in 1978. His work includes graphic and corporate identity programs, publication designs, architectural graphics, and exhibition, interior, furniture, and consumer product designs for many leading American and European companies and institutions.

Mr. Vignelli has had his work published and exhibited throughout the world and entered in the permanent collections of several museums; notably, the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York; the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Montreal; and the Die Neue Sammlung in Munich. Mr. Vignelli has taught and lectured on design in the major cities and universities in the United States and abroad.He is a past president of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGl) and the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AlGA), a vice president of the Architectural League, and a member of the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA).

Two feature-length television programs on the Vignellis’ work have been aired worldwide. A monographic exhibition of the Vignellis’ work toured Europe between 1989 and 1993, and was featured in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Helsinki, London, Budapest, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Munich, Prague and Paris

Debbie Millman

Debbie has been a major influence in building the firm’s creative business since joining Sterling Brands in 1995. As a partner and President of the Design Group at Sterling Brands, she has worked on the redesign of global brands for Pepsi, Gillette, Colgate, Kimberly Clark, Nestlé, and Campbell’s.

Debbie’s loves are culture, technology and the role that design plays in our everyday lives and much of her time is spent applying this knowledge to our business and to our clients.

Debbie is President of the AIGA, the largest professional association for design. She is a contributing editor at Print Magazine, a design writer at FastCompany.com and BrandNew.com, and Chair of the Masters in Branding Program at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. In 2005, she began hosting the first weekly radio talk show about design on the Internet. The show is titled "Design Matters with Debbie Millman" and it is now featured on DesignObserver.com.

She is the author of three books, "How To Think Like A Great Graphic Designer" (Allworth Press, 2007), "The Essential Principles of Graphic Design" (Rotovision, 2008) and "Look Both Ways: Illustrated Essays on the Intersection of Life and Design," (HOW Books, 2009).

Hillman Curtis

David Hillman Curtis is a filmmaker, designer and author. His film work includes "Ride, Rise, Roar", a feature length documentary on David Byrne which premiered at SXSW 2009, as well as several national commercials for Ogilvy/IBM, online commercial work for Rolling Stone, Adobe, Sprint, Blackberry and BMW and the popular documentary series "Artist Series". He has also produced nine short narrative films; "Bridge", was selected as one of only seven shorts for the GenArts 2009 festival in New York, "Embrace", and "Spinal Tap" each won "Best Dramatic Short" Webby Awards.

As a web designer David has designed sites for Yahoo, Adobe, Aquent, the American Institute of Graphic Design, Paramount and Fox Searchlight Pictures among others.

His three books on design and film have sold close to 150 thousand copies and have been translated into 14 languages.

David Hillman Curtis' work has been featured in numerous design publications worldwide. He has also lectured extensively on design and film related subjects throughout Europe, Asia and the USA. He was nominated for the Cooper Hewitt National Design award in 2009.

He generally goes by his middle name, Hillman.
